Welcome to the home of The *Årctic Ångels*, a virtual
squadron that has a long and proud history in the French skies of World War I.
We have members from around the globe including North America, Canada, Australia
and the Czech Republic.

Feel free to browse our site or leave a note on the message boards.
With our comrades-in-arms the Gallant Talons and the Guardian^Angels, we will be
taking part in War Forces 2004 in Red Baron3D.

The *ÅÅ* are also opening a second front in the Pacific, flying the World War II
aeroplanes of Oleg Maddox’s IL-2 “Pacific Fighters.” Many other Red Baron
simmers are answering the call and with that in mind I have written
“Double-Tap’s Red Baron-to-Il-2 Conversion Kit.” This is aimed at shortening the
time it takes to become proficient in IL-2. Even if you are not a RB simmer
there is good information inside for those new to IL-2. See the link at the top
of the page.
All are welcome to train with or fly with the Årctic Ångels in both Red Baron
and IL-2. Every *ÅÅ* pilot owes a lot of their flying skill to other pilots who
took the time to show them the ropes and mentor them as they progressed. We are
only too happy to continue the tradition. You do not need to be a member.
The Årctic Ångels are now recruiting for both sims. The most important attribute
of an ÅÅ pilot are not marksmanship or aerobatic skill, those can be taught; the
most important attributes are flying with honour, respecting one's opponents and
being willing to help others. These are things which are impossible to teach
which is why some very good pilots could never join the *ÅÅ*. If you think you
have what it takes, see the recruiting officer, *ÅÅ*Baz. Contact him here:
marc_loy@optusnet.com.au or fill out an application
form from the link above.
The Australian wing of the *ÅÅ* meet on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. (7.p.m. for
those on Daylight saving) for Pacific Fighters training and at the same time
Wednesday for Red Baron training.
Salute!
Pilots,
What on Earth are the *ÅÅ* doing in IL-2? Good question. The answer at the
moment is not much. Several of us have IL-2 but not many are flying online. I
hope to change that. If you have not flown other sims before, or if you have
only flown RB, then IL-2 can be a big shock to the system.
I aim to shorten that development time by offering advice and training. All are
welcome. You do not need to be a member of the *ÅÅ* or a RB player. It dosen't
matter what level you are either, or if you belong to a RB squad that dosen't
support IL-2.
What you do need is to have IL-2 Forgotten Battles, and the Aces Expansion Pack
patched up with the 2.01 and 2.04 patches. The conversion guide will be posted
separately in another thread.
